The range on the weapon art and tracking makes it one of the best overall for countering and punishing rollers and spammers.

WebTwo Godrick dragons. I did a pure faith build and ran the cipher pata until I got to leyndell before switching it up. If you upgrade them consistently and spread your stats right, they're actually extremely strong in the first half of the game, one of my favorite fist weapons :D they absolutely wreck shield users. Web-Cipher Pata: The only reason i put this here is because you can get it quite quickly, and its also a very good weapon, just has a 30 faith requirement. These things are monsters, they shred so quickly, and holy damage is king for at least the first half of the game. My favorite part about this weapon though is it has innate shield piercing.
WebThe pata will only do Faith damage. This is amazing for undead, but you may end up struggling with Holy-resistant enemies (like the Duo, to mention one). The scythe does not have that limitation (it deals standard and holy damage). For this reason alone, I recommend the scythe over the pata.

You can even add Light Roll to make things even worse.
