Between 1981 and 2001, the proportion of China’s population that lived below the poverty line reduced from 53% to 8.5% (Xing 2-12). By 2012, only 5% of the population was living below the poverty line. Webthere are different channels between exports/FDI and growth, which introduced export-led and FDI-led growth hypothesis. Based on this hypothesis outward-looking economies can experiment higher growth rates. FDI enhances the efficiency of production and can promote specialisation and productivity in the host country (Xing & Pradhananga, 2013).
