WebJan 1, 2024 · Actually, that's not a bad finish for pine. I like it. The only thing you can do at this stage is apply a top coat w/ a little tint to it. If you have a sample piece, try putting some amber shellac over it. That will darken it a little, but also might give it a little more uniformity. Shellac lays on top without penetrating the grain.
